Shooting Elizabeth (1992)

Bekkah:

What is this alpha couple bullshit? I guess they deserve each other. Jeff Goldblum wasn’t even an anti hero. He was the main character, but not even a protagonist. Howard Pigeon was just a dud. But still hot.

Danya:

Not even the 90s outfits could save this. Come for the misogyny, but stay for the unattended commentary on toxic heteronormitivity. Is it a comedy? Is it a romantic comedy? Definitely not a thriller. It’s more of a twisted morality tale, where there is no justice. Howard is incompetent and psychologically small-minded, blaming all his problems on someone else. Come on, Howard. Be better. Grow up. Instead after a hilarious misunderstanding, the last scene is the couple back together and joking about how he was going to murder her. #notcute

Chris (guest review):

I can only comment on the last third of the movie. You really want me to comment? It tries to be saccharine but neglects to mention the heavy dose of arsenic.

4/10 Goldblums

An American executive living in Europe plots to murder his judgmental, callous wife, only to get accused of actually murdering her when she disappears after leaving him over his own neurotic behavior.
