Happy Third Jeffiversary! Vibes & Earth Girls are Easy Reprise
Bekkah:
I can’t believe it’s been three years since “two weeks of telework” and Danya asking if we could watch all of the Jurassic Parks during telework and if we’d really be home for five weeks. Anyway, this is my favorite pandemic project (covid isn’t over, y’all!!!!!) and Danya and I have talked more (virtually) in the last three years than we have in the first nine years of our friendship! BUT THE MOVIES! So for this Jeffiversary, we decided to watch our favorite non-Jurassic Park Jeff movies, Vibes and Earth Girls are Easy and omg while I barely remembered the plot of either, I totally remembered that these movies are absolutely delightful. I really think both deserve a cult following and can’t believe I’d never even heard of either before JGMC. Both of these movies are the 80s-est and I love the outfits, the music, the Jeff-as-a-romantic-lead. I wish all of his 80s (and 90s and 00s and 10s and 70s) movies were as great as these because they are immaculate.
Danya:
So like, this is obviously the best part of the pandemic. I can’t believe that three years ago we were already over the brink of a completely changed world. But as Bekkah reminds me, I certainly didn’t know it, and wondered if lockdown would last long enough for all the Jurassic Parks. Well here we are, well over a hundred and fifty weeks later, and there is still more Jeff!
That being said, Vibes and Earth Girls are easily the best Jeffs. Both movies focus on ladies who have an internal life! Wants! Dreams! Opinions! And both are filled with fabulous colors and outfits. I truly feel like the first part of Earth Girls is Art. Jeff’s character in both are so dreamy, and kind. I kinda feel like he is playing himself, even when covered in blue fur. To more years to come!
