Chain of Fools (2000)

Bekkah:

10/10 goldcoins for those sideburns! *chefkiss* Like seriously, I was very into sideburns in the early 00s. This movie was weird, but… I was into it? A really terrible schlubby dude (not Jeff, obvs) does everything wrong and somehow ends up with Salma Hayak, but I was there for the weird ride! Lots of sexism, definitely transphobia, also cop shit, and white boys abound, but it was kooky and watching Elijah Wood and Michael Rappaport be terrible hit men (who were just looking for friendship!) was a treat! More Jeff is always appreciated, but his character arc was a good one!

Danya:

I live for heist movies. I spend way more time than the average person thinking about how I would rob a bank, so I was into this movie from the beginning. Chris pointed out that this was not a typical heist movie, where everything is meticulously and ingeniously planned, but rather nothing is planned. THE PLOT RESTS ON A PASTRAMI SANDWICH. So, really I was going to like this movie. They did try to make it more difficult than they had to, with Salma’s character development only being that she was a cop in playboy, and therefore not one man could take her seriously. HAHA. MISOGYNY. SO HILARIOUS. Anyway, Jeff wore his leather jacket and some rocking sideburns, but was not in the movie nearly enough. Also hard content warning for some serious old-fashion early 2000s transphobia. Happy pride!

7/10 Goldcoins
