So DANYA GOT MARRIED last week!!!! And so she is taking the week off to have a FREAKING HONEYMOON and I watched a movie that Danya did not to watch because Danya is not interested in watching Holocaust movies. Totally fair! Also a really weird day to be watching a Holocaust movie, news-wise.

Anyway this was a deeply uncomfortable movie that just got more and more uncomfortable as it went on. Not (just) because it’s dark, but I don’t even know how to write about this ficticious movie set before, during, and after the Holocaust, where Jeff/Adam was a Jewish German entertainer who was forced to act as a literal dog for a Nazi during WWII and then his trauma processing in a mental facility for Holocaust survivors after. Jeff was actually really good in this, despite a terrible and only occasional German accent, but this movie was too much for me. Actually, most of the acting was very good! But not enough to save this story. This is based off a novel written in the 60s, which maybe explains some of this weirdness? Oof, I dunno. Danya, you made a good call on this one.
