“RVs” (2019) The World According To Jeff Goldblum S1E8
Bekkah:
This was delightful, as usual, and we learned that Jeff is WAY TOO FANCY. He’s never camped, he’s never taken a road trip, he doesn’t understand the Amish. I mean, I love this about him and I expect no less. But also who has never taken a road trip? Rich people, I guess. Anyway, Jeff’s wonder and confuse-ment in this episode was charming, as always. But this episode was the whitest yet! Which was kind of disappointing! Like, there was one (1) person of color with a speaking role in the whole episode, which also included a millenial #VanLifeMom influencer and a bunch of hipsters living in an LA RV park. Plus some seriously white-washed history on using tents. For an episode about RVs, there was sadly no DEEP Vs, but I will accept some darty eyes and Jeff singing a weird rendition of “Born to Be Wild” instead.
Danya:
You know there is a lot going on right now in the world (cough Russia cough) but it just makes me so grateful that even though we are in a shitty timeline, this show exists. This episode showed us some tricked out RVs, and I learned that a lot of RVs are made by Amish people, which you know, good for them. Bekkah is right that this was definity #tvsowhite and usually Jeff is good about more of a cross section! I’m guessing there are BIPOC who are also into RVs? Or maybe not? Are there Amish BIPOC? Can you convert to Amish(ism)? So many questions.
