"A fish called Selma" (1996) The Simpsons S7E19

Bekkah:

This was so great! The Simpsons pre-2000 is just golden. I was worried there was going to be Not Enough Jeff, and while I could always have MORE Jeff, he was not underutilized! He was great as a skeevy agent to equally-if-not-more-skeevy Troy McClure, who you might remember from such films as Oh No! Sexism! and I Have Trouble Expressing My Kinks So Instead I Manipulate Women. I feel like they also captured Jeff’s 90s look pretty well, down to the leather (I am assuming) blazer! But I could do without the soul patch. Anyway, this was a great watch and it made me just the right kind of nostalgic. Also, I really need that aquarium bedroom, but not for the same reasons as Troy!

Danya:

What happened to the simpsons? They used to be so great! Jeff plays a delightfully swarmy talent agent for the closeted sociopath, Troy McClure. This is the episode where they do the musical version of Planet of the Apes, and that is all you need to know. Help me, Dr. Zaius! Selma finally finds her voice and walks, bathrobed and smoking, into the sunset with Jubjub, just as it should be.
