St. Ives (1976)

Bekkah:

I feel like this movie started off strong, with some weird dead bodies and a mustacioed protagonist (not Jeff, sadly) but then the weird 70s pacing of movies took over and I stopped paying attention. Also I was in a virtual conference today, so maybe I’m just maxxxxed out on screen time? I dunno! Anyway, Charles Mustache Bronson, who was from Death Wish brought back Jeff as another hooligan (“hood #3”), but at least this time it wasn’t even a little bit rapey? One of the main characters was named Procane and every time someone said his name (which was a lot), all I heard was “cocaine” and all I could think was how this movie would have been much better if everyone was on cocaine. Not enough Jeff, for sure. Too much cops (ACAB).

Danya:

Bekkah just insisted that she was into Jeff Goldblum before it was cool. #Tooquirky I tried really hard to follow this movie. It seemed like a fun criminal romp where (spoilers!) the psychiatrist and the cops are the bad guys. It also wasn’t sex negative and had lots of good outfits! Magenta colored ties for days. Charles Bronson reprises his role from Death Wish and the only thing different is that his character has grown a sense of humor. So, that’s an improvement.

4/10 St. Goldblums
