“Coffee” (2020) World According to Jeff S1E9

Like me, Jeff is not much of a coffee drinker! Also like me, Jeff gets even weirder when he drinks coffee. How are the topics for this show chosen? I am so curious! But anyway, Jeff’s sense of wonder and curiousity continues to delight, despite the show once again only talking to white people (nearly all men). Earlier episodes were more diverse! I hope this show gets back to that. Surely there are some interesting coffee communities that include people of color? Also I hope Jeff goes back to doing more hugs. But also I hope he continues to just ramble on to himself about these topics because it is always delightful. And Jeff just going face first into latte foam and coming out with a foam-covered mouth is perfect.

This really made me want a cup of coffee, so therefore was very effective and/or I’m very addicted? Maybe both as it’s almost 9pm on a Thursday. Turns out that Jeff has abstained from caffeine for the past “4-5 years” which means that the few sips that he takes during this episode really rev him up. It’s like Jeff on 1.5 speed, with almost double the song interludes. He is manically charming, but no person of color actually speaks and the “cars and coffee” meet up thing at the end was disappointing. There are so many better coffee micro cultures! Maybe it’s just because we did RVs last week, but no more cars, please. And thank you.
