“The Real Jurassic Park” (1993) Nova S20E15

Bekkah:

I have the softest spot in my heart for the VHS-to-YouTube pipeline of things from the 90s and earlier (which is good because there are more of these to come!). Something about the fuzziness is just gives me a warm, nostalgic feeling. Perfect for a documentary about the science behind and alongside our hero, Jurassic Park! Jeff sweetly narrates this precursor to The World According to Jeff Goldblum and I am here for the ride! Lots of science nerds plus sci-fi nerd Michael Crichton, talking about super dated genetics was great. Oh man so much has changed in 30 years! But also not enough!

Danya:

This felt a lot like watching a podcast. I learned so much about Dinos, and got to hear Jeff’s sultry voice over the whole thing. I have definitely wondered why we can’t have Jurassic Park, so thank you Nova from 1993 for explaining it to me. 30 years ago we didn’t have CRISPR so I would like to see an updated version of this, please and thank you.
