Tenspeed and Brownshoe (TV Show 1980) - Episodes 1 & 2

Bekkah:

I enjoyed this, but I have no idea what happened. There were so many deep V’s! The deepest V’s!! What does it say when my vivdest memory of watching this is the undershirt that Jeff was wearing with the V that went almost to his belly button? I mean, what it says is that I am a little obsessed with Jeff Goldblum, but you already knew that because I write a weekly post about him. OK, um, back to the show? Jeff (Brown Shoe, I assume) is a shitty private dick who is pretty bad at like everything that you need to be good at to be a PI. His partner-in-sometimes-crime (Tenspeed??) is a great liar, but not really a great person. They… solve crimes? Or something? There are lots of bad apples in these shows and Jeff immediately gets handsy with the damsels in distress. Maybe future episodes will make more sense? As long as the V’s stay deep, I’m here for the long haul.

Danya:

Bill Clinton said that this was his favorite Jeff Goldblum show, and I can see why he would like it. There’s a lot of mystery. Why are these people private eyes together? Are they roommates? Are they in love? Is this just another version of mediocre whyte men failing up, and Black men needing to be 100 times better? So many questions. I cannot tell you anything that happened in these episodes, but it was pleasant time travel jaunt to the 1980s. Points for the proto-feminist hitman who likes the ERA, but not lady pilots. Tenspeed’s response “Feminist hitman. Cute.” We missed last week because of election chaos, but it was worth it to look forward to less facism next year. Woo!
