This was actually my first episode of Portlandia, despite absolutely being sort of a hipster in the 00s and early 10s. But I’ve also never even been to Portland and I still thing Fred Armisen is a grade A creepo. Jeff was absolutely delightful as the hipster knot store owner in the pink suit and doing knot magic tricks. Why was he not invited to the bonfire orgy in the other skit? What a waste! He was also not in the recurring Battlestar Galactica skit, which also would have been great. But bringing in Edward James Olmos was a good treat for a BSG nerd, which I am. There were some laughs! I did not hate this show, but I do still hate Fred Armisen. I’m excited to see Jeff in the future episodes!

I know that if I was really cool, I would be too cool for Portlandia. But I’m not fooling anyone, and I actually really enjoyed this episode. I may have guffawed out loud, at least once. Jeff slays in a powder pink suit and I would buy almost anything from him, but definitely something artisanal and bespoke. I’ve never seen battlestar galactica but I deeply identify with binging TV shows way longer than you should. Portlandia, I feel seen.
