Law & Order: Criminal Intent (2010) S9E3/4 “Broad Channel” “Delicate”

Bekkah:

These two episodes were really different and I gotta say that I liked the second, formulaic procedural one better than the first crooked cop/complicated CI one. I think I measure enjoyment by how much attention I actually pay to the episodes. This time around, definitely much more in “Delicate” than “Broad Channel,” probably because there were more women in the episode, even if they were messy. I also gotta say that I understand why this is not THE Law & Order gold standard when people talk about Law & Order. It’s just like, mostly mediocre? Why are there so many new cops every episode? Why do I always feel like I missed something in this show? Why don’t they ever actually explain where the cops/main characters come from? I feel like maybe if we watched the first 8 seasons of this show, I might know the answers to those questions. But if I’m going to watch something that does not have Jeff in it, it’s gotta be better than Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

Danya:

So we’ve seen a lot of these law and orders and it continues to weird me out! I guess the main characters don’t get any…story lines? plots? intrigue? growth? It feels like they are weirdly interchangeable background for whatever actual story is happening. People like this? I guess. Jeff looks good in a leather jacket and keeps jumping to conclusions that are always right (“this woman has strong legs! She MUST be a dancer!”) I don’t even really remember the first episode, but that might be because the main character was a middle aged sociopath white guy, who generally bore me. The second episode at least had dancing and poorly portrayed mental illness! Also, clearly the second episode should have been much more queer than it was. We know what was happening between Paulette and Jessalynn, oh, we know.

5/10 Goldsports
