Law & Order: Criminal Intent (2009) S8E2: Rockstar, S8E4: In Treatment

Bekkah:

This is some sold 00s Law & Order shit! Jeff is definitely in the middle of his I-am-a-regular-actor-not-a-weirdo phase, but the weirdo DEFINITELY PEEKS OUT and I want more. More Jeff eating all the breakfast foods. More Jeff showing The Kids (TM) that he is a better musician than they are. More Jeff offering wild speculations that lead to solving mysteries because this is Law & Order after all. I liked the first episode with a pre-Community (I’m assuming) Gillian Jacobs as the manic pixie dreamgirl artslut better than the second episode where rich white dudes (Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, & Marty Scorsese lookalikes) fucked around with money (and just fucked up all over). There are 22(??) more L&I:CI episodes with Jeff in them! Phew! This show alone could take months, but fortunately our friendship is awesome and will last through this and much more!

Danya:

I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m a total Law & Order newbie. My only real familiarity with it is that “DUN DUN” sound a stats prof overused on his powerpoint. What an actual delight it is! I finally get it. Jeff really is his most jef self- as we meet him carrying bagels and sass in the first scene. And don’t worry, he has some complicated past. His dad is a shrink! He was in Cleveland for some mysterious reason! I also appreciate that this Jeff detective version is not super creepy. We counted several leather jackets. Only mild sexism, def did not pass the bechdel test. Also strange that it is possible to set a show in 2009 NEW YORK CITY and not have one brown or black character. WHAT IS THAT WITCHCRAFT? In the second episode there is a creepy psychiatrist who abuses his power, and who doesn’t love that?
