Asteroid City (2023)

Bekkah:

Ya know, I always worry that Wes Anderson is gonna out-Wes-Anderson himself and I’m gonna hate it, but he just makes charming movies about weirdos and I love almost all of them. This movie barely made sense, but when I saw it in theaters a couple months ago, I immediately needed to see it again the next day so I could ~ get ~ it. So this was my third time seeing it and I love it. It has both Not Enough Jeff and also the Exactly Right Amount Of Jeff. I love the desert. I love nerds and their weird parents. I need a little martini machine in my life. I’m probably going to buy this one on Blu Ray.

Danya:

So we saw this in a hotel room in Florida right before we went on an adventure to paradise. Paradise? It was grand. This movie was also. It was peak Anderson and every scene could be a work of art. So much pathos about wonder and the world and our place in the universe. Every character was a little planet trying to find orbit and crashing into each other. I was into the gimmicky play within a play. I was into the being in the unknown wonders of the cosmos. Jeff is my favorite alien.
